Preparing for an alpine ski trip requires planning for slope conditions, chalet living, and travel logistics. Use this structured checklist to ensure you do not leave anything essential behind.


1. Slopes & Riding Gear

Essential gear required for safety, warmth, and performance on the mountain.

  • Skis or Snowboard: Inspected with edges tuned and base waxed.
  • Ski Boots or Snowboard Boots: Checked for proper fit and buckle functionality.
  • Ski Poles: Correct length for downhill skiing.
  • Helmet: Mandatory safety gear for all group slope activities.
  • Goggles & Sunglasses: UV-rated lenses for bright glacier sun and overcast days.
  • Back Protection & Wrist Guards: Highly recommended for terrain parks and off-piste riding.
  • Sunscreen & Lip Balm: High-SPF (50+) alpine sunscreen and UV lip protection.

2. Technical Slope Layering

Proper layering is key to staying comfortable in variable alpine temperatures.

  • Base Layer (Thermal Tops & Bottoms): Moisture-wicking synthetic or Merino wool (2–3 sets).
  • Mid-Layer Fleece or Insulated Jacket: Breathable warmth for cold morning starts.
  • Waterproof Outer Jacket & Pants: Hard-shell windproof and waterproof outer layers.
  • Thermal Ski Socks: 3–4 pairs of dedicated ski socks (avoid thick cotton socks).
  • Waterproof Gloves or Mittens: Quality insulated gloves plus a spare pair if wet.
  • Neck Warmer / Buff & Beanie: Cold wind protection for lift rides.

3. Chalet & Evening Attire

Comfortable wear for communal dinners, evening games, and sauna sessions.

  • Indoor Slippers / Slides: Required inside the chalet (outdoor shoes left at entrance).
  • Comfortable Lounge Wear: Sweatpants, hoodies, and casual clothes for dinner.
  • Swimwear & Sauna Towel: Swim shorts/bikini for sauna, hot tub, and theme nights.
  • Earplugs & Eye Mask: Recommended for shared bedroom accommodations.
  • Chargers & Powerbank: Electronics cables and portable battery pack.

4. Travel & Official Documents

Requirements for travel crossing borders and resort registration.

  • Passport / National ID Card: Valid for international travel.
  • Health & Travel Insurance: European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) & private travel insurance.
  • Driver’s License & Vehicle Essentials: Winter tires, snow chains, and Swiss highway vignette if driving.
  • Revolut / Payment Cards: Card and small cash for mountain huts.
